The actor known as Harshad Mehta lives in a cramped one-room apartment in Mumbai’s Gujarati-dominated suburb of Ghatkopar along with his family consist of his wife Jyoti and brother Ashwin.
Harshad Mehta is an ordinary salesman who tried hard to earn for living. After working in various odd places he decided to join the stock market as a “jobber”.
Soon he started his own consulting firm because of the low growth in his job. He started targeting the loopholes in the system, exploiting the law, and bribing various officials. In the start, he faces some loss as well. Because of which his father got angry at him and he became bankrupt and fatherless to fight alone against the odds. One of his friends Pranac Sheth helps him in getting clients.
After some time he started his own cartel of brokers and starts dealing with banks. His sudden success in the stock market catches the attention of a journalist, Sucheta one of the strong financial journalist started investigating to find strong evidence against him.
When the governor of RBI found some unusual transaction in his account he asked his team to take a close eye on his fund’s movement. At that time he was trying to safeguard to sweep 500 Indian rupees off the books.
Harshad was about to clear his remaining debts to SBI before his fraud gets exposed. Venkitarajan gets to know about the scam going on and he starts investigating.
In the end when CBI arrest him for involving in some kind of fraud. During the custody, he got a heart attack and caused his death.
